Business meetings, corporate events, office coffee runs, and on-the-go meals can all contribute to unwanted weight gain. Find out how to participate in office meals and corporate events without negatively impacting your health with our simple approach.
Think Green and Lean – Select menu options that are loaded with fresh veggies and are accompanied by a lean source of protein. Some great options are: A green salad with chicken breast or fish, vegetable soup and a sandwich (on whole grain bread of course), or a vegetable stir-fry with chicken or beans. Mix and match menu items to ensure you are getting the most nutrition out of your meals.
Have a Plan – Making food choices at the moment starvation hits almost always has us ordering high fat, high calorie meals instead of healthier options. If you have a plan and are diligent in sticking to the plan you will find that when it’s time to order, you will automatically make healthier choices. Allow yourself a “cheat meal” every couple of weeks to reward yourself for all of the great healthy choices you have been making.
Skip Dessert and Sugary Treats – We all know that desserts are bad for us, but over time they can be the determining factor in weight gain. 3,500 calories is equivalent to a pound of weight gain which can easily be reached by eating sugary donuts (300 calories), cakes (300-400 calories per slice) or muffins (350 calories). These sugary treats also wreak havoc on your metabolism and can contribute to significant weight gain overtime. Instead of high calorie desserts, opt for a piece of fresh fruit or a cup or herbal tea to finish off a meal.
For your next corporate event or lunch, provide healthy menu options for your employees. This will help to improve focus, energy levels and overall health.
