Are fellow employees being promoted over you? Are they receiving company benefits or perks that you think you should be receiving too? Are your efforts going un-noticed? You aren’t alone. In today’s market, as employees we have to stand out from the rest to be properly recognized by our superiors to get the promotions we deserve. Consider the following three tips to become the best employee you can be and get that promotion that you deserve!
Take ownership for your actions and mistakes. If you have made an error in your work or you could have acted in a different way, don’t be afraid to take ownership of your actions. Managers prefer that you have learned from your mistakes and therefore won’t commit the same error in the future than try to conceal a mistake that may hurt the company in the long run.
Lead by example. Show others your commitment to the success of the company by volunteering to take on new tasks to expand your skill set and level of responsibility. Prove to your superiors that you are dedicated to continued learning and excellence.
Act as though the business is your own. Treat clients and fellow employees as though your living depends on it, because it does. Provide the best customer service you can and create repeat business, thus making your contribution to the company financial.
