Words about fitness at workEver have that feeling in the morning? The one where you roll out of bed after hitting the snooze button a few times, and the day starts off feeling sluggish? You jump in the shower just to wake yourself up before heading to work for a 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. start? By noon you’re starting to function properly because by now you’ve had a half dozen cups of coffee?

As a trainer, I have heard this story many, many times. I have also experienced this personally!

Now imagine this! You wake up feeling refreshed. The night before, you ate a great dinner, completed your workout and went to bed with satisfaction because you knew that when you woke up you would be another day closer to your health and wellness goals!

Proper foods are providing your body with the nutrients it needs to function (you didn’t lull yourself to sleep with junk food). You head to work with an extra ‘pep’ in your step, knowing that this day is going to be fantastic.

This is the result when you implement healthy lifestyle changes. Adding exercise and whole food into your daily routine will improve the way you interact with yourself, AND with others. Think back to when you felt your very best. It could have been when you took care of yourself FIRST. Remember that feeling of paying it forward? Remember that feeling of accomplishment?

Those are the feelings that permeate a healthy and active workplace when people catch the excitement. I’m not talking about weight loss (though weight loss will happen with each healthy lifestyle change). I’m talking about active employees.

Anyone can be active at any weight, any age, any race, and at any mobility state. Every employee has the potential to be empowered by healthy choices. You can take a person who lacks confidence, get them active for a couple days and just watch how they start to change – how they walk, talk, dress, and perform. They start to soar! And it’s contagious! Is that person in sales? Watch their quotas change as they do!

If you struggle with low production, gossip, absenteeism, tardiness, or just need a fresh and healthy change in your workplace, getting your employees active will make the difference. 30 minutes of activity a day can do it!

If you want your team to work better together, have them exercise together. This is far different than creating cliques after work by grabbing beers and wings to shoot the breeze. Though people may feel vulnerable at first to exercise with their co-workers, eventually you see their guards come down. More natural conversation begins to take place, and they will form team skills that can also be used during work.

Exercise and fitness brings the team together – physically and mentally engaged in the same task, encouraging and strengthening each other. Exercise boosts brain power, releases endorphins, and increases our energy levels. These employees are now happier and more productive workers. This is just the right kind of energy you want for your work environment.

Call us so we can help you get your employees active, energized and productive. You will see the return on investment through decreased absenteeism and decreased health care costs, as well as increased morale.
