If you are planning on packing up the car this summer and hitting the road for your summer holidays, then you need to consider the following tips:
- Pack a cooler full of snacks and drinks. Include plenty of bottled water, chopped up fruit and vegetables and fun dips for dipping. Trail mix and granola are non-perishable items that quick and easy for road trips too.
- Yes, you are on vacation, but that’s no excuse to completely throw all your heard work out the window. Avoid stopping for fast food meals along the way. Instead, search for restaurants that use locally sourced ingredients. Your meals will be more flavourful and most restaurants aren’t much more expensive than their fast-food counterparts.
- Make sure you schedule time to stop and get out of the car and stretch. Take a ten minute walk to get the blood flowing to oxygenate muscles and the brain. This is particularly important for the driver to stay alert and aware of the road.
- Leave the distractions at home. There is no doubt that you will bring your hand-held device with you, but turn off email notifications and only check in with the office when it is absolutely necessary, if at all. This is your time to relax and recover. Holidays are meant to provide us with a much needed break from the daily pressures and stresses so take this time to focus on yourself and your family.
From everyone at Fournier Health enjoy a happy and safe summer holiday season!
