Cancer, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes are among the most common diseases today. They are being diagnosed at alarming rates. Now is the time to implement real changes, to reduce your risk of a future diagnosis. Most diseases have been shown to be associated with lifestyle and environmental factors some of which we have control over in our day-to-day lives.

Disease: an impairment of the normal state of the living animal or plant body or one of its parts that interrupts or modifies the performance of the vital functions, is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms, and is a response to environmental factors (as malnutrition, industrial hazards, or climate), to specific infective agents (as worms, bacteria, or viruses), to inherent defects of the organism.  Reference

3 Changes you can Make at Work or at Home

  1. Change your diet

It can be extremely overwhelming with so many diet trends and a plethora of information to read and understand.  One of the best ways to change your diet is to eliminate processed meats and in their place add more fruits and vegetables. Instead of a ham sandwich for lunch, pack a salad full of vegetables; add an apple and a container of trail mix.

  1. Reduce your Stress

Stress is known for its detrimental effect on your health. When the body is under prolonged stress, cortisol levels are elevated and this hormone has a detrimental effect on the body’s immune function. Boosting immunity allows the body to naturally use its defenses to stop disease processes.

  1. Reduce harmful environmental exposure

Whether you are at work or at home, reduce and/or eliminate environmental exposure to toxins and chemicals by always using proper protective equipment, and/or removing yourself from harmful pollutants.

Don’t wait for a diagnosis to make a change to your lifestyle. Begin implementing small changes on a daily basis.
