The way you start your day sets the energetic tone for the rest of the day. If you get up late, race around and rush out the door, your entire day will feel as though you are running behind schedule, rushed, or pressured.
Today I am recommending 3 healthy morning habits to start your day off right and will have a long-term benefit to your health.
1. Upon rising drink a glass of spring water with the juice from half of a lemon. This acts as a gentle detoxifying agent as you break an overnight fast. The lemon juice supports and stimulates the liver for more efficient detoxification and metabolism. It also helps with hydration, youthful, glowing skin, and is an excellent source of Vitamin C.
2. Gentle movement and stretching first thing in the morning is a fantastic way to get the blood flowing through your muscles and will assist in oxygenating your tissues. Stretching also improves muscle flexibility and aids in detoxification by providing a gentle massage to your internal organs. The greatest benefit is the time you are spending tuning into your body and focusing on the mind, body, and spirit connection.
3. While lying on your yoga mat, or while still in bed, close your eyes, relax your muscles and recite an affirmation for the day. Describe your intention for the day, what you will achieve and how you will feel. Let the words sink in deep and breathe your affirmation into every tissue of your body. Allow that information to radiate from you all day.
