The hype of the New Year has worn off and most resolutions are long forgotten.  This first week of February we have a three part mini-series on weight management. Our goal is to give you the resources you need to maintain or achieve a healthy body weight.

Proper nutrition is the cornerstone to weight management. There is no shortage of weight loss programs circulating that promise to have you shedding pounds without changing your diet, exercise levels or lifestyle. But at what cost?

Yo-yo diets, pills, counting calories, weighing your food, and the latest fads are bad news in the long run for your weight and health. All of these things have a negative effect on your metabolism and self-image.

We believe that the key to weight management is providing your body with the building blocks (vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats) that it requires to thrive. Under those conditions, your body will naturally find its homeostasis.

Eating a well-rounded whole food, colourful diet will ensure that you are feeding your body properly. Eliminating simple carbohydrates, processed foods, and reducing your consumption of animal products will put you on the road to maintaining a healthy body weight and feeling great about it!

Make one small change to your diet everyday by substituting fries for a salad, an apple for a cookie, or spaghetti squash for spaghetti. Small changes over a span of a couple of months will amount to a large change overall to your weight and health.  Follow our Try This Tuesday Blog to pickup a healthy bunch of recipes.

Join us the rest of the week for our weight management mini-series!
