When is the last time you looked yourself in the eye and said, “I love you”? The most important relationship you have is with yourself, yet a lot of people struggle with maintaining a loving relationship with themselves.  Our minds are filled with a running commentary, most of which is filled with negative thoughts about our bodies, our actions or reactions, our choices and our circumstances.

In 2015, our number one priority needs to be taking care of ourselves. Here are 5 ways to start strengthening your relationship with you right now.

  1. Listen to your body and provide it with pure nourishment, exercise, relaxation, and enjoyment.
  2. Become a morning person (or a lunchtime person, or an after dinner person). Do whatever is necessary to carve out time every day for reflection, relaxation and peacefulness. Let yourself just be you, with no distractions and no agenda.  Allow yourself time to process your thoughts.
  3. Learn how to create boundaries around your personal time and allow yourself to say “No” to things that don’t align with your priorities.
  4. Live from a place of gratitude and give thanks for the little and big things in your life.
  5. Enjoy the present moment. Stop stressing over the past or fretting over the future.
